The Repair
Many of the Clarion removable radios used by Saab in the 1986 and newer 900's and 9000's have been a source of rattles. This is a frustrating thing that we have seen remedied with anything from gum wrappers to popsicle sticks! Most repairs are unsightly and make the removal and re-insertion of the radio difficult to do.
We have come up with an economical and unobtrusive way to solve this problem. The next time you change your wiper blades, split off the wiping portion of the rubber before you throw the rest of the blade away. Cut this to the approximate length of the radio opening and insert it into the radio opening between the bottom of the radio and the dash opening. Push the thinnest (wiping) portion of the rubber in first with a credit card or some similar instrument. The black of the blade is nearly invisible and will keep the radio from rattling in the opening. When you need to take the radio out, just save the rubber and reinsert it when the radio goes back in.
This is our solution to rattling radios!
