Restoration
Rusty Saab classic 900 frames
One of the major rust concern areas on a classic 900, 1979-1993 and 1994CV, is the area where the lower front suspension mounts to the body. It would seem that the dirt and debris collects in the bottom of the body work in that area and holds moisture to the extent that rust out can often occur in this area. This eventually poses a dangerous situation as the front suspension loses its moorings and has the potential to break away from the body, if left unattended. These areas can be repaired with available repair panels and some craftsmanship as noted in the pictures below. While the cost may be more than some older cars are worth, it is a viable repair for a 900 that has been deemed “restorable/worth preserving” for whatever reason.
